This playlist contains 1-minute previews of our videos. We hope this saves you time as you search for resources in helping students prepare for State Exams.
These full videos are 7-15 minutes and focus on one topic. We cover all topics from astronomy to zoology. The complexity level ranges from elementary to high school.
All of our videos have a free student engagement worksheet (paper as well as many digital options, please see below). We also have short pause-points so students may try to predict what will happen in a science experiment or to answer a question, before the answer is given. Together, these are designed to keep students engaged, especially when they view this away from school.
We strongly recommend that you do an experiment with your students to see if the following improves their scores: 1) assign a video and engagement worksheet to be completed the night before you teach the topic 2) use our same worksheet but as a competitive game (e.g., as a Kahoot) the day you teach the topic. Did this learn-sleep-learn method improve their long-term fact retention?
We have attempted to make our videos accessible to many students with various learning styles and needs by using features described in this video.
Additionally, some web browsers (e.g., Internet Explorer) can read highlighted text aloud on our engagement worksheets, and students may zoom in as needed.
Each science video has an associated short (8 or fewer questions) worksheet designed to keep students engaged.
These are formatted as paper which you may download as documents here: from SML, from TPT . These are also free in formats for Learning Management Systems and other digital forms (please see below), though some LMS may require a subscription by your school.
Please search for "Test Prep LLC" (including the quotation marks) from within Canvas Commons to find our quizzes. These have feedback for each question.
Alternatively, you can search for our Canvas Quizzes here and import quizzes using the links on this paper. Each paper worksheet file contains formatted text for Canvas (and Respondus 4.0) you can import into canvas.
All of our listings on TPT have an Easel Activity and Assessment. Easel is free. Teachers may assign work to their students and receive the results directly, or via a Learning Management System. Unlike some other formats, there is not a way to explain the correct answer with these formats, so we suggest you consider our Google Slides with these.
You're welcome to have a copy of any (and all) of our Google Forms. Each contains a link to a corresponding free-access science video we made. Here's a link that shows how to get these at TPT.
Using a Learning Management System like Google Classroom may save you time sending assignments to students, getting their results and entering their scores into your gradebooks.
